Tracy Parkinson believes that laughter is a patient's best medicine .. and don't forget their pets
We loved this e-mail from Tracy Parkinson. Laughter is such an obvious way to raise someone's spirits, but often forgotten. The comments on 'pets' are also hugely relevant.
She says:
'I just think that sometimes EVERYONE forgets to laugh often and it really is the best form of medicine. There are a lot of people out there who can't communicate verbally for whatever reason and feel trapped inside and laughter helps release them.
Another option for making it better is for pets to be allowed onto wards. Many people don't have families and their pet is their only link to the outside world. I believe, as a pet owner, if I were in hospital, I would love the laughter and my pet to make the day go in a bit quicker and be more enjoyable.'
