The perfect tea or coffee
We are a nation of tea drinkers. For most of us, it is hard to beat a nice cuppa!
However, how we like to drink it is most important. The experience can be ruined if it is too weak or too strong for our liking.
Whilst most carers try hard to establish whether patients with impared communcation skills like their drink with or without sugar, few ask whether they like it strong or weak.
For me, the pleasure of a hot drink is ruined if it is too strong. For others, a weak tea tastes like dishwater. So, if your relative or friend is in long term care, take the time to tell whoever is in charge their precise drink preference. It is so simple to add a jug of hot water to a drinks trolley so that strong tea or coffee can be weakened. Overworked staff may not be able to get it right all the time but, whenever they can, it will make a difference.
