Shakespeare Hospice move the reception desk and make a difference in more ways than one!
As part of their refurbishment programme, the Shakespeare Hospice in Stratford moved their reception desk so that it directly faced the glass entry doors. They found that this simple exercise had several benefits for patients and carers. Not only were patients able to be greeted by a smiling receptionist before they had even crossed the threshold, it also meant that anyone who had trouble negotiating the automatic doors could be helped immediately, as the receptionist could see them approach. Finally, anyone with a physical disablility could be seen by the receptionist who could then either get help or assist them herself as they approached the building.
