RS suggests ways of keeping the belongings of a patient more accessible
We are grateful to RS from Scotland for suggesting how bed-bound patients can reach their personal belongings more easily. She writes..
My mother-in-law spent several weeks in hospital last year and found it hard to keep track of small personal items - her glasses, lip salve, pen for the crossword and spare penny (for her scratch cards). SHe became distressed thinking they were lost of stolen. In fact, they were being routinely tidied into her bedside cabinet which she couldn't reach and, most of the time, couldn't even see when her back rest was upright and the cabinet was then behind her line of vision. We solved this by buying a bright red pencil caddy/desktop organiser for 99p whcih could sit on her bed table in front of her.
