Patients should be treated as guests
We have been sent a great e-mail from JF who trained in Belfast in the 1950s.
She writes....
'I trained in the late 1950s at The Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. We were taught to treat all patients with sympathy and kindness. 'You are the hostess and the patients are your guests. It is up to you to make them comfortable and relaxed during their stay. This will aid a speedy recovery.'
Flowers were allowed on the ward and the water changed daily.
Matron was Queen.'
