Kissing it Better volunteers are the best!
Kissing it Better volunteers have yet again made a real difference to patients, their relatives and staff at The Lister Hospital this afternoon.
A group of wonderful student beauticians from North Hertfordshire College, along with two members of their staff, gave a bit of Christmas TLC to patients on the Stroke Unit, and then they took their magic to the busy Outpatients Department where patients received hand and arm massages whilst waiting for their appointments. Thank you to the girls who bravely overcame their nerves to come into the hospital for the first time to volunteer their expertise and make a difference to people in our community. You did brilliantly!
We were then treated to some wonderful carol singing from the Choir of St Mary's Church Walkern. They sang beautifully in the main corridor before moving to Outpatients where we had a request for them to sing Silent Night. The choir then began working their way around three wards in the tower block - patients, relatives and staff on 6a, 5a and 5b really enjoyed the beautiful carols - and along with the wonderful Father Christmas hats the choir brought a little bit of festive cheer to everyone. Thank you so much to Beverley and all your choir members - my Christmas certainly started this afternoon!
None of this would be possible without the help and support of our brilliant Kissing it Better volunteer, Pat. Thank you Pat - you are a star! I really couldn't do it without you!
Lastly I would like to thank the Deputy Director of Nursing at East and North Herts Trust, Philippa Davies, and her wonderful team of nurses who make us all feel so welcome on the wards, and around the hospital.
Merry Christmas everyone!
