Holding hands brings great comfort to some patients
Nowadays there are so many rules and regulations about touching other people. However, there are times when it is exactly the right thing to do. This idea was sent in by someone who recalled her time as a student nurse..
As a student nurse, I found that offering a patient a hand to hold whilst they are awake during a procedure -whether they are having a cannula put in, a spinal injection or a cyst removed under a local anaesthetic - can mean the world to a patient just to know that there is someone there for them, even if they don't want to talk.
