Dignity Action Day 2012 - bigger than ever

1st February 2012 is Dignity Action Day and encourages everyone to give some of their time to anyone whose dignity may have been compromised in some way. This year the theme of the campaign is Taking the time to.... In other words, we are urging people to take the time to...listen to someone who rarely gets the chance to express how they really feel. Or it may mean organising an activity that a vulnerable person can share and enjoy, dignify someone by asking them to talk about their talents and experiences of life so that others, of all ages, may benefit. The time you give may involve knocking on a neighbour's door and offering to do their shopping if, for some reason, they are struggling to get out. If you work in a hospital or care home, it may mean organising an event that is both enjoyable but also highlights some of the issues facing that person or group of vulnerable people. The list is endless and, to help people decide, the campaign has put together packs that offer guidance.
