British Red Cross offer therapeutic care
The therapeutic care service helps massages and other therapies to help people relax in times of crisis. Volunteers are trained to deliver this treatment either directly onto the skin or through clothing.
Anyone can benefit including patients waiting for treatments, anxious relatives or during an illness.
These relaxing therapies are known to reduce pain and stress and help to give someone an sense of well-being. Those receiving the treatments also benefit in other ways as all the volunteers have been trained to have listening skills.
