BBC Breakfast comes to Hertfordshire
Sunday 2nd December 2012
Last Wednesday Tim Muffett and Martin Roberts from the BBC arrived at The Lister Hospital to film a feature for BBC Breakfast about Kissing it Better, and the work we're doing in Hertfordshire.
Luckily for us, the wonderful Kissing it Better volunteers were very keen to be involved in the filming, and were there on time to start working on both Elderly Care wards. Students and staff from North Hertfordshire College Beauty Therapy department arrived looking stunning, as ever. Our wonderful Pets as Therapy volunteer Adem and his labrador, Yogi, were there causing a stir, as usual. Luckily our very lovely Trust Volunteer, Pat Burke, was on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Philippa Davies, Deputy Director of Nursing, gave a wonderfully positive interview about our charity. Jill Fraser talked to Tim about what Kissing it Better is up to UK wide, and I talked briefly to him about where we see the charity going in the future.
We then decamped downstairs to the main corridor where the amazing Heath Mount School Choir, led by Andrew O'Brien, sang like angels, and reduced more than a few of us to tears. All in all, patients, volunteers and staff did a splendid job and we are all really looking forward to seeing the piece go out on BBC Breakfast sometime between now and Christmas. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such fun - its what I hope Kissing it Better is all about!
