Simple ideas can make a huge difference in care homes and nursing homes
Following a bad experience with her father in a care home, we have had an e-mail about how a daughter managed to improve certain aspects of his care.
We realise that many care homes already do the following activities.. and much more. We should like to hear from them so that we can add their ideas to our list.
Here are some of Jo's suggestions..
Spoke to the Director of the Management company of the care home. Activity organiser now comes a couple of times a week
A Wii was attached to the TV so that guests could play the games and get some exercise at the same time.
Organised for her father (who is computer literate) to have a laptop.
There is now a board in the hall telling guests and relatives who is on duty that day.
Her father shared a room with his wife so this daughter organised for screens to be installed so that her father could use the commode with some privacy.
Please send any suggestions you may have to mail@kissingitbetter.co.uk. We do realise that staff in many care homes and nursing homes are already doing a brilliant job.
Thanks
Jill
